KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI — A box truck hit four public safety vehicles as officials responded to a rollover crash on I-94, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 8:36 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, the Comstock Fire Department and Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash eastbound lanes near the 80.5 mile marker, just east of Sprinkle Road.

While working the original crash, a 24-foot box truck struck three Comstock Fire Department vehicles and a sheriff’s office cruiser before rolling over and coming to rest.

No first responders were injured, police said, and no injuries were reported from the initial crash. The box truck driver suffered minor injuries. He was transported to Ascension Borgess hospital for treatment.

Eastbound I-94 was closed at Sprinkle Road and then reopened at 10:50 a.m.

Wrecker crews worked with police to clear the highway. The sheriff’s office is reminding everyone to slow down during inclement weather and move over for emergency vehicles.
